First, the news about a story of survival. The other day a baby bird got in a little jam.
Emma was walking down her driveway when her mother, with a sudden jerk, pulled Emma off to the side. "Look"! They looked down and saw a baby bird sitting right beside a pine cone. "Why isn't he flying away?" Mom asked. Emma had the same question as she approached the bird. She got closer until only a few inches separated them. "Maybe he has a broken wing", Emma suggested. She saw the pine cone and tried to move it for the bird's comfort. As her hand grabbed the pine cone to lift it she realized it was stuck. Emma, alongside her mother, stood and stared at the bird looking desperately into their eyes. Mom hurried up to get Emma's father and Emma stayed and tried her best to comfort the bird. "I could tell he was extremely terrified." Emma said afterward. "His eyes were huge with fear and all he could do was blink at me". Apparently his leg was caught in the pine cone. He hopped away. "We prayed for him afterward." Emma said. "I hope he is alright".
Lucy Life is meant to inspire young people to start their own newsletters to help their shelters. Here is a way to get started.
- Choose an animal shelter to support.
- Decide on a name for your newsletter. You can base the title on your pet. ex: Lucy Life is named after a pet...me!
- Find some shops that are willing to support your cause.
- Start off your first newsletter by introducing yourself.
- Include other people. Others may have some great stories or ideas to share.
- Collect from the donation jars every-so-often. They could get full and overflow.
- Find time. You have to have time to do this. If you don't it could get stressful.
